✠ Remembrance Day Reflection ✠

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

On this Remembrance Day, we pause before God in solemn gratitude for all who have given their lives for peace, justice, and the freedom of others. Today, our remembrance extends not only to the heroes of past wars, but also to those who even now stand in defense of truth and dignity — especially our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, who suffer under the shadow of a cruel and unjust war.

The words of Scripture speak powerfully to our hearts:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

We lift up in prayer all who mourn the loss of loved ones, all who are wounded in body or spirit, and all who endure the pain of separation, fear, and destruction.

Through the Prophet Isaiah, the Lord gives us hope for the future:

“Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” — Isaiah 2:4

We hold fast to this promise, even in these dark days, believing that God’s light will overcome every shadow of hatred and violence.

As we remember the fallen of every generation, let us also renew our own call to be peacemakers — in our homes, our communities, and our world. Let us pray for the victory of truth, for comfort to the afflicted, and for the day when peace will once again reign over Ukraine and every land.

May the memory of all who have laid down their lives be eternal.

May their courage strengthen us, and may the peace of Christ dwell richly in every heart.

Вічная Пам’ять. Memory Eternal.
